'Getting the team and the Equipment Together'
However complicated (or simple) the shoot is, we'll need a team of people. As well as the actors/performers we’ll need:
- Camera person – At least one, and maybe more.
- Lighting Person – If we're filming inside we'll need lighting, and someone to look after it.
- Director/dogsbody –We need someone in charge of the shoot, making sure everything is running smoothly..
A good idea supply some kind of refreshments for the crew – that will not only keep them happy but also stop them popping off to the shops to get their own supplies, just when we need them for the shoot.
The main equipment will be coming from college the camera and tripod.
'Planing our Shoot beforehand'
The more planning we do before hand the quicker we'll be able to shoot. If relying on favors, people will be more willing to help again if we keep the hanging around to a minimum. To plan, we should:
- Draw story boards showing each scene and shot
- List the crew, performers and props you'll need for each shot
- Try and brief the camera and lighting people beforehand so they know what we want from the shot.
'Filming'
On the day of the shoot we will be prepared and organised. We will Keep a record of shots made; it'll make editing much easier. The best thing to do is allowing plenty of time for shooting - the finished shot may only last 10 seconds, but could easily take several hours to set up and shoot. When we're happy with a shot, if we have time, we will shoot it again. We can never have too much footage, and the retake may capture something that you hadn't noticed first time round. We will have our plan and storyboard to follow, remembering that some of the best moments in a video can be unplanned. Keep the camera rolling .
'Capture Live Footage'
We’ve come up some problem we have to avoid before filming and what we should avoid.
- The live version may differ considerable from the recorded version so syncing the footage with the track could be problematic
- The artist and particularly the audience's, movements won't be choreographed we won't know where to be to capture the right shots
- The lighting and effects may look great to the audience but may not look great to the camera
Live filming may provide us with some great footage that can be used as part of a video, but if we want live footage to synch to a video we’re best rehearsing it.

notes on music video
This is the beginning four shots of the song i have planned out.

The main narrative of the song wil be the girl in her bedroom singing over her boyfriend having nightmares over him, ringing him, reflecting back on their memories, looking at him to remeber him by looking at himby projector shots and computer images. At the end of the song she tries to get over him and destroys his memories this then finishes of with her in her bedroom and the door closing in the song. Becuase the song is very slow paced i have decided to use alot of variety of shots and scenes to express how the character is feeling.

Research on artist chosen
Britney Jean Spears (born December 2, 1981) is an American singer and entertainer. Born in Mississippi and raised in Louisiana, Spears first appeared on national television in 1992 as a contestant on the Star Search program, and went on to star in Disney Channel's television series The New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1994. In 1997, Spears signed a recording contract with Jive, releasing her debut album ...Baby One More Time in 1999. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and has sold over 25 million copies worldwide. Her success continued with the release of her sophomore album, Oops!... I Did It Again in 2000, which established her as a pop icon and credited for influencing the revival of teen pop in the late 1990s.

In 2001, she released Britney and played the starring role in the film Crossroads. She assumed creative control of her fourth studio album, In the Zone released in 2003, which made her the only female artist of the Nielsen Soundscan era to have her first four albums debut at number one. Her fifth studio album, Blackout was released in 2007. Her sixth studio album, Circus released in 2008, also debuted at number one in the Billboard 200 albums chart.

According to Zomba Label Group and Sony Music, Spears has sold over 85 million records worldwide. She is ranked as the eighth best-selling female recording artist in the U.S. with 32 million copies of her albums certified by the RIAA and is currently the fifth best-selling artist act of the decade in the country, as well as the top-selling female artist. Spears is also ranked by Forbes 2009 issue as the 13th most powerful celebrity, and with earnings of over $35 million dollars in 2009, the 2nd-highest earning young musician of the year
Early life, The Mickey Mouse Club, career debut, and innosense's original 1997 line-up - Spears is shown in the middle with fellow members Amanda Latona, Mandy Ashford, Danay Ferrer and Nicki DeLoach
Everytime research
In 1997, Spears briefly joined the all-female pop group innosense. Later that same year, she recorded a solo demo and was signed by Jive Records. She began a U.S. concert tour sponsored by American teen magazines, and eventually became an opening act for 'N Sync and the Backstreet Boys.

"Everytime" is a song by pop singer-songwriter Britney Spears from her fourth studio album, In the Zone. It was released on May 17, 2004 by Jive Records as the third single from the album. The song was written by Spears and her Dream Within a Dream Tour background vocalist Annette Artani in 2001. Produced by Guy Sigsworth, the song is a tragic ballad.
The track was a big success and topped the music charts in several countries, including Australia, Ireland and the UK, while reaching top ten positions in eleven countries. The controversial music video was directed by David LaChapelle.
Music and lyrics
In her 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer, "Who is the song for?" Spears stated, "I'll let the song speak for itself." Many believe the song was written about ex boyfriend Justin Timberlake. The song is composed in Eb Major and Spears' vocal range runs from an Ab3 - Eb5.
Music video
The controversial music video for Everytime was directed by David LaChapelle. The video begins with Spears and her boyfriend (played by Stephen Dorff) in a limo. They arrive at a building where the paparazzi are awaiting. Spears is hit in the head with a camera, but keeps walking.
When in the lobby, Spears' boyfriend begins throwing some magazines around and pushing photographers. Spears and her beau are escorted out of the room and are taken into hallways which lead them to her room. They have a fight in which her boyfriend throws a vase at the wall. He leaves and Spears begins filling her bathtub and removing her clothes. When she's in the tub, she realizes she's bleeding from the head, suffering a concussion from when she was hit in the head with a paparazzi's cameras. She loses consciousness in the tub. Later, her beau finds her unconscious in her tub and calls rescue.
Unconscious, Spears follows her body to the hospital, not before being shown running towards the camera away from a bright light - a scene often associated with the transition into afterlife. She is also seen walking into a nearby hospital room where a baby girl is being born, implying reincarnation. Near the end of the video, Spears is seen running away (because since you are meant to "walk into the light") from the camera and towards the light--symbolizing a fear of staying on Earth and an embracement of death.

Following these scenes, Spears is shown rising from under the water in the bathtub and resting her head and smiling. This implies that she was imagining the entire scenario and never became unconscious to begin with. This was added to perhaps lessen the severity and controversy of the explicit content of the video.
The video was at number one on MTV's Total Request Live countdown for six days, and it also reached number three on both VH1's Top 20 Countdown and MuchMusic's
Countdown.
The video was #2 on MuchMusic's 50 Most Controversial Videos for the blood, partial nudity, and graphic scenes.
It was premiered in the UK on the MTV show TRL.
In the bath scene, Spears is seen wearing the red string worn by members of the Kabbalah Centre. This comes months after Spears was introduced to Kabbalah by Madonna. The red string was often mistaken for bloody wrists in a suicide attempt.
Covers
This song has been covered by Glen Hansard and Colm Mac Con Iomaire, members of the band The Frames. It was recorded for the "Today FM" CD titled Even Better than the Real Thing Vol. 2 (out of Ireland) which also included a cover of Britney Spears' "Everytime." The melody of Pachebels' "Canon in D" is played at the end of the cover. Taiwanese Mandopop trio S.H.E. covered the song in Mandarin for their album Encore, retitled as Bie Shuo Dui Bu Qi (別說對不起; Don't Say Sorry). However, their version is sometimes considered to be a rendition as opposed to a cover version, since its lyrics are completely different and it only takes on the melody of "Everytime". Also, this song has been covered in the chilean TV show BKN, by the singer and actress Vanessa Aguilera, and it was included in the CD soundtrack of the second season.
Everytime received over 20 awards worldwide proving its major success.
Chart performance
"Everytime" peaked at number fifteen for four consecutive weeks on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its top twenty placement on the Hot 100 Airplay. It also reached the top ten on the Hot Digital Tracks chart and Top 40 Mainstream chart. It remained on the Hot 100 for eighteen weeks, was certified gold by the RIAA for shipments of over 500,000 copies and ranked at number eighty-three on the Billboard Hot 100 year-end chart for 2004. It reached number one in the UK, where it stayed in the top forty for eleven weeks, sold 196,000 copies and ranked eighteenth on the 2004 year-end charts. To date, it is her last number-one single in the UK.

Lyrics of song choice 2
Notice me
Take my hand
Why are we
Strangers when
Our love is strong
Why carry on without me?
Everytime I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams
I see your face, it's haunting me
I guess I need you baby
I make believe
That you are here
It's the only way
I see clear
What have I done?
You seem to move on easy
And everytime I try to flyI fall without my wings
I feel so smallI guess I need you baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams
I see your face, you're haunting me
I guess I need you baby
I may have made it rain
Please forgive me
My weakness caused you pain
And this song's my sorry
At night I pray
That soon your face will fade away
And everytime I try to fly
I fall without my wingsI feel so smallI guess I need you babyAnd everytime I see you in my dreamsI see your face, you're haunting meI guess I need you baby
Take my hand
Why are we
Strangers when
Our love is strong
Why carry on without me?
Everytime I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams
I see your face, it's haunting me
I guess I need you baby
I make believe
That you are here
It's the only way
I see clear
What have I done?
You seem to move on easy
And everytime I try to flyI fall without my wings
I feel so smallI guess I need you baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams

I guess I need you baby

Please forgive me

And this song's my sorry
At night I pray

Music video choice 2 - analysis
Because of the sudden change and problems occurring with our first choice of song. Me and Neelam have both decided to go with the second popular choice which our audience choose as their favourite type of music and the second popular was pop.
Researching carefully we decided to do Britney Spears as she is a pop queen icon and the song we decide to do is Everytime.
The first step is to analyse the video.
Britney Spears- Everytime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRHAXSRcSH0
Aspects of Performance/Mode of Analysis
Throughout the song from the beginning the audience sees Britney Spears indirectly as a continuous sequence is happening of a day in her celebrity life and the characters aren't looking at the screen. Towards the end the Britney Spears is singing directly while she is dying in the bath tub signifying the freedom of her soul.

Narrative
The narrative is non-linear at the beginning from where she is in the car and then comes out the car and faces the media. From the middle of the song it becomes linear as the audience realises her urge to be free from the world of media and the affects of her life as a star. Her boyfriend throws all the magazines on the floor pushing paparazzi and then the security taking Britney and her boyfriend into their room where she is arguing and agitated with her guards and her boyfriend because of his behaviour. In the hotel room Britney's Boyfriend tries to hug her she backs away and he becomes abusive and smashes a vase. This is when she walks away from the scene strips nude and gets into the bathtub to relax. She then realises her head is bleeding she soaks herself into the water not caring and her soul walks through a hospital and sees a mother giving birth this is when she realises her life's gone and threes another life brought into the world. She tries to run away from the reality but by this time her boyfriend has discovered her in a bath tub and he ambulance comes to get her. The song stops on the new born baby symbolising a new life. This is when Britney is finally free.

How Does the Video Create an Image for the Artist/Band
The video makes us take Britney seriously as it shows a life as a pop star and all the negatives. We emphasize towards her and her life. She is indirectly asking the audience to cut her some slack and have her own life. She is showing the reality of the unglamouras side of the music industry. The music video shows the audience that if one life goes another one is gifted on the Earth for a better life which Britney hopes for.

How Do the Visuals Relate To the Song
The lyrics of the song are quite ironic towards the video as the lyrics are expressing Britney's feeling "notice me" sitting in the limousine wishing to get some affection."Everytime i try to fly i fall without my wings" showing she wants to be free but never is as the paparazzi and stardom has taken over her.The lyrics are based on how Britney feels in the song which is affective as she is not singing whats happening in the seen but is singing the significance of that life and how it makes her feel.
Mise-En-Scene
Locations include Las Vegas city,a limousine(which is messy showing the celebrity party lifestyle),an entrance for a hotel, a corridor,a hotel room,a bath room,an hospital room and an ambulance. Costumes of paparazzi are casual and realistic. Britney looks glamouras for the general public with her tanned shiny legs, high heels, sunglasses and base ball cap but she is wearing lingerie with a baggy shirt to show her lack of effort as a celebrity. The white shirt she wears at the end is white and signifies freedom, good spirits and a positive life. Her hair is messy as well as her makeup. Lighting in the white corridor is very bright showing the place as mysterious and continual.

Use Of Camera
Their is an establishing shot at the beginning to introduce the place and location. And a long shot of Britney Spears billboard informing the audience of her role in the video which is obviously important.Long shot of both characters being introduced, the camera being a bit shaky to show their limousine is moving.mid shot of her facial expression showing her reaction towards her boyfriends attitude.Over the shoulder shot of photographers approaching the limousine.Point of view shot through a photographers eye of whats happening in the location and how people are acting. Point of view shows from Britney's point of view the way the paparazzi are attacking her and how scary they look i her point of view.Mid and long shots of Britney tyring to get into the building and when she enters in. Close up of her boyfriends reaction and a point of view shot from his eyes looking at the paparazzi.Other shots include tracking shot of her body being put in the ambulance van. High angle shot of the baby in the mother arms making it looking miraculous and important. And closeups, mid shots, point of view shots and long shots between her and her boyfriend and her in the bathtub and the baby being born. The camera follows where she goes.
Editing and special effects
Shot reverse shot is used between Britney and the paparazzi, her boyfriend and the paparazzi and Britney and her boyfriend.A cross dissolve and fade out is used from the bath tub to the white corridor. White fade out from the baby to her.
Representation
Britney Spears is represented as venerable celebrity, innocent and venerable. With power on the outside but completely powerless from the inside. Her boyfriend is represented as careless when he shrugs her off in the limousine, bad tempered when he breaks the vase and starts fighting with the paparazzi. The paparazzi is represented as bad people ruining celebs life causing havoc and grief.
Genre
The genre for this music is pop.
Audience
Teenagers to adults a vast minority of the audience.

Promblems during filming
Today we had a big promblem as our main lead is a male one of my friends from another colledge agreed to do the part for me and has cancelled out 2 weeks in a row becuase of his personal issues.
This is wasting precious time so i have decided to choose another video where a female is the lead and i don't need to be reliant on anyone for this and will be the lead myself, so no one has a chance on cancelling out on me.
Another big promblem has occured as a girl from our gropu has decided to drop out from our group becuase she felt she coudn't adjust with us. This gives me and Neelam more pressur to get more work done as we have half the group size. But hopefully this won't let us down as a group.

Ideas of music video
This is just the beginning four senes i have planned out and drawn showing the camera angles mis-en-sceneof the video.

The main narrative of the music video will be the male lead in his luxury apartment, he then goes out with his mates and discovers a girl he is attracted to and the song follows on, on how he's tying to catch her attention and woo her.At the end he finally does so she is with him in his apartment in the morning sleeping this is where the male lead has flashbacks of the night before.
Location:
First location we've planned to do is in a hotel room where the male starts of. This will look like a glamouras bachelor lifestyle.
Second location is on the streets where he is singing and going to meet his mates. got inspired by Jay Sean's original video because the camera work looks really affective and the continuous flirting with the camera is used , which i want to use so the character in the song really engages with the audience.
Third location will be at bar where the male lead character meets his mates is having a laugh with them and the girl catches her eye. I decided to use a bar because ur target audience is teenagers- young adults nd they will reflect to the party lifestyle. And this is a common way to meet someone in a bar, party or club. So it looks more realistic
Fourth location is back in the hotel room in the morning with the girl.
1.Location 1 will be in Printowrks apartment.

2.Location 2 will be in Wilmsow road featuring Asian shops this shows a cultural background of the artist inspired by the original video.

3.Location 3 will be in the bar Barbar in Deansgate.

This song reflects on today's youths lifestyle where sex is seen as a minor thing.
Costume:
The male lead will be wearing casual clothes a t-shirt and jeans in the beginning of the song.
He then wears a blazer, shirt,an some jeans when hes going to met his mates
In the morning he is wearing a tank top with jogging bottoms
The female lead will look really glamouras in the her with a sparky dress and heels.
In the morning she will be wearing the guys shirt he wore the night before in the party.
beginning of song Camera angles:
1.establishing shot of the city
2. Extreme long shot of the apartment location
3. long so of boy sitting on his bed
4. close up of his face
5. close up of him switching the TV of
6. mid shot of his legs standing up
7. long shot of him going into the bathroom
8. tracking shot of his feet walking
9. close up shot of him switching the toilet light on
10. mid shot of boy singing in the mirror in the reflection
11. long shot of door close
12. long shot of door open
13. Long shot of boy dressed smart
14. close up of him grabbing his keys and wallet
15. Mid shot of him closing the lights and going out the apartment.
16. Extreme long shot of him walking out the apartment
17. mid shot of him singing
17. over the shoulder shot
18. mid shot of singing

Research on Artist

Kamaljit Singh Jhooti, born 26 March 1983) better known by his stage name Jay Sean, is a British singer-songwriter, rapper, beat boxer and record producer. He was initially signed to Virgin Records in 2003 and debuted with the UK top 20 hit single "Dance with You" (at #12), followed in 2004 by the UK top 10 hits "Eyes On You" (at #6) and "Stolen" (at #4). That same year saw the release of his critically-acclaimed debut album Me Against Myself which, despite failing to reach the top 20 on the UK Albums Chart, went on to sell more than two million copies across Asia in 2005 and remains his most successful album to date.
1983–2002: Early life and career beginnings
Sean was born Kamaljit Singh Jhooti in Hounslow, West London, England, to Sharan and Bindi Jhooti, Punjabi Sikh immigrants from India. He was raised in Southall[ and displayed musical talent at an early age. At age 11, he and his cousin formed a hip hop duo named "Compulsive Disorder". He later enrolled in Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary, University of London, to study medicine before he dropped out in 2003 to pursue a singing career. For his music career, he chose the stage name Jay Sean; "Jay" is a common Indian name that he was known by when he began hip hop, while "Sean" is derived from "Shaan", a nickname he was called at home which means "shining star" in Punjabi.
2003–2006: Me Against Myself with Relentless Records
Further information: Me Against Myself

In 2003, Sean signed a £1m deal with Virgin Records (under their label Relentless Records) after his track "One Minute" fell into the hands of producer Rishi Rich. His first taste of UK chart success was his collaboration with Rishi Rich and Juggy D for the song, "Dance with You (Nachna Tere Naal)", which became a Top 20 hit, peaking at #12. His second single, "Eyes on You," became a Top 10 hit, peaking at #6.
It is Jay Sean's second video after "Dance with You (Nachna Tere Naal)". Its video was first debuted on MTV India's First Cut. The song gained a lot of positive reviews from audiences. In Britain, it gained moderate success.Eyes on you:
The video features two Jay Seans, one a singer and the other a rapper. It starts with Jay Sean the rapper trying to enter his locked up studio where Rishi Rich and Juggy D are already there. Jay Sean manages to get the door open. Just before he enters his studio room, a British and an Pakistani flag is on his door frame. The British flag is there because he was born in Britain and he put up the Pakistani flag, even though he is Indian to represent unity between the two nations. He finds that there is another Jay Sean there, the singer. He follows Jay Sean the singer to a party, where Rishi Rich, Juggy D and Madhu Singh, among others, are present. The two Jay Seans eventually face-off against each other in a rap battle where Jay Sean the singer emerges the victor.

Lyrics:
You can tell ya girl'friends 'bout me

and i bet u see right through me
you can do anything to meoh-ohh

hold on.......
got my eyes on you
wont you bring that back to me

Chosen song and Analysis
With research from the questionnaire I produced, I got various results and discovered that r'n'b music is the most popular within our generation. So I researched an artist who is a well discovered talent recently and is Asian. I want to show that the Asian ethnic minorities can break the boundaries and make it big in the music industry
Jay Sean - Eyes On You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8uztB31eUw
Aspects of Performance/Mode Of Analysis
The video starts of as indirect when Jay Sean is hanging out with his friends remixing some Asian tunes and his double is knocking on the door. He then looks at the audience directly and starts singing to the camera while sitting in his studio chair and then walking around streets flirting with the camera. He then turns indirect from when he sees the girl and even in the part his indirect mode of address performing and challenging his double making the whole aspect look more realistic of the double.

Narrative
The narrative is non-Linear as it has a non-clear beginning and middle and then the audience realises the storyline towards the end. The video starts of with Jay Sean hanging out with his friend while his double is knocking on the door calling him. Jay Sean ignores the call and starts sing in his studio chair and walking around the streets of London at some of the Asian hot spots. Then a girl gets introduced as she is just standing on the road. Jay Sean than starts flirting with her and walks off. His double comes running and takes the girl to the party with him and this is where he sees Jay Sean and confronts him by MC-ing and challenging him about his brand image.

How Does The Video Create An Image For The Artist/Band
The video makes the artist very different and creative as an Asian young talent as he is using a different concept of a music video. He has many creative and different ideas presented from doubles to a challenge of MC. Any teenager can relate themselves to Jay Sean as he is wearing normal affordable clothes and in a low-budget location it isn't glamouras which shows Jay Sean is more bothered of his music talent rather than concentrating on a glamouras video. His idea is simple yet affective and his is breaking the boundaries of Asian singers by singing pop n yet doing some MC which u never see an Asian person doing in the music industry.

How Do The Visuals Relate To The Song
"Got my eyes on you" he is talking to the camera giving the female audience an impact that he is flirting with them he is then doing this to a girl in the song when he sees her. This lyric is also ironic as his double has his eyes on him looking out for him and watching what he’s doing. The rapping "what are you a cross between jay z and Sean Paul" he is insulting jay Sean while saying this.

Miss-En-Scene
Different locations include the studio, outside the studio, the streets of London and barbeque garden party which are all low budget. All the characters in the song from the girl to Jay Sean and his double are all wearing high street clothes which are youthful and yet fashionable at that present moment of time.

Use of Camera
One of the best things about this music video is the variety of camera angles used. Zoom out and low angle shot of the double ringing the door bell. Close ups of facia expression and point of view shot of him looking into the door whole from their shot builds up and zooms in the room. Long shots of locations. Close ups and mid shot of jay Sean singing. Low angle shot of double walking down the stairs making him look superior. Zoom outs, mid shots, low angle shot when he’s singing in the streets. 180 degree Whip pan where he’s singing around the girl. Over the shoulder shot when his double comes towards the girl. Point of view close up shot of the girl looking at the double. Low angle shot of the barbeque grill.mid shots, 2 long shot and a point of view shot in the party.

Editing and Special Effects
Shot reverse shot of jay Sean and his double rapping makes it seem more realistic. The editing of him and the double in the same screen by using split screen. The writing dissolving into the window at the beginning informing what the song is going to be about. And a negative is used when the double confronts Jay Sean. Diegetic sounds of knocking on the door, phone call and the Bhangra music being played.non- diegetic sound the lyrics.

Representation
The culture of Mc-ing is introduced for youth of Asian people. And acceptance of the Asian community showing them just to be like the rest of the white community having fun, hanging out, respecting friends. The stereotype of the typical pop singer has been challenged with the Asian person. When Jay Sean is rapping he’s justifying himself to the public of why he has chosen to change his name and image to fit in the girl is seen as a sex symbol and has less power than the men as the men are leading her way init. He is seen as powerful and in control of himself throughout the song and he is challenging those who challenge him.
